Allswater is pleased to announce, Black Rock Tidal Power, owned by Schottel of Germany, TidalStream of the United Kingdom, and Nova Scotia-based companies, Akoostix Inc., Dynamic Systems Analysis Ltd, Seaforth Engineering and Allswater, were successful with their bid to design and deploy a test turbine to generate tidal electricity, at the Force site in the Bay of Fundy.

Expected to be deployed in 2015 in the fourth berth in the Minas Passage, the group is testing a design combining TidalStream’s Triton platform with Schottel’s STG turbines. This design includes several three-metre diameter turbines, which are linked to a semi-submerged floating device. The platform will be designed to generate 2-1/2 megawatts in a single installation; and will be cost-effective and easy to maintain.

During the first stage, in the first year of operation, Black Rock Tidal Power will deploy 16 of the planned 36 turbines.
