Celebrating the Completion of APA Pilot Boats in Halifax Harbour

On November 27, 2024, the Allswater team celebrated the completion of a transformative four-year project with a tour and sea trial of the Foundation Pilot and Chebucto Pilot in Halifax Harbour.

Built for the Atlantic Pilotage Authority (APA), these state-of-the-art vessels highlight Allswater’s expertise in project management, marine services, and innovation.

Designed by Camarc in the UK, the vessels feature advanced technology, safety systems, and environmentally conscious equipment, marking a significant advancement for pilot operations in the region. The Allswater team had the unique opportunity to experience the vessels they helped bring to fruition, from exploring their cutting-edge systems to taking them out on the water—a thrilling demonstration of the design’s efficiency and precision.

Allswater’s role in the project spanned concept refinement, shipyard selection (Armon Shipyard in Spain), construction oversight, and structural inspections. This collaboration, involving teams in Nova Scotia, St. John’s, and Spain, included regular site visits and detailed reporting to maintain the delivery schedule. The Foundation Pilot was delivered in March 2024, followed by the Chebucto Pilot in July.

Witnessing the vessels in action was a proud moment for the Allswater team, showcasing their ability to deliver innovative marine solutions that enhance safety and operational efficiency while collaborating with leading design experts like Camarc
