Two New Pilot Boats Under Construction

Our project team collaborated closely with the client’s operations group to select Armon Shipyard for the construction of two new pilot boats for Halifax Harbour. We have been managing the construction and testing of these boats before their delivery to Canada.

Solution

Our project team worked in close collaboration with the designer and operations group to develop new boats featuring:

  • Cutting-Edge Technology: Advanced systems were integrated to enhance safety for pilots and crew.
  • Environmental Protection: The boats were equipped with the latest systems for environmental protection, aligning with modern sustainability standards.

After overseeing the design process, our team took on the critical tasks of:

  • Tendering and Contracting: Managed the tendering process and contracting for the shipyard responsible for constructing the new builds.
  • Construction Management: Once construction commenced, our onsite project managers in Spain, supported by teams in Nova Scotia and St. John’s, oversaw the construction process. Regular site visits ensured adherence to the delivery schedule and the production of high-quality vessels.

This meticulous, four-year-long project culminated in the successful delivery of both vessels:

  • Foundation Pilot: Delivered in March 2024.

Chebucto Pilot: Delivered in July 2024.
