Saputi II launches at Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain

On September 9, the Saputi II was launched at Freire Shipyard in Vigo, Spain — a proud moment for Qikiqtaaluk Fisheries Corporation (QFC) and an important milestone for everyone involved in bringing this vessel to life.

Purpose-built for Arctic conditions, Saputi II combines modern design, advanced ice-class capability, and automated onboard systems to support sustainable shrimp and Greenland halibut fishing in some of the world’s most challenging waters.

For Allswater, this launch represents the culmination of years of planning, oversight, and collaboration. From the earliest specifications through to this milestone moment, our role has been to ensure the project stays on course and ready for the next phase.

Delivery is set for 2026, when Saputi II will begin her work in northern waters — advancing QFC’s mission and contributing to the long-term stewardship of Arctic fisheries
